In short: You can use MapTactic without an account. Tactical marker layouts and tier lists that you save stay in your browser. The site uses Google AdSense, which may use cookies and similar technologies to deliver, measure, and protect advertising, subject to your settings and consent where required.
1. Scope and operator
This Privacy Policy applies to WarDevOps MapTactic at wardevops.github.io. “We,” “us,” or “the site” refers to the WarDevOps site operator.
The site does not provide user accounts, a contact form, or a server-side database for visitor profiles. This policy explains information stored in your browser and information automatically processed when the site and its third-party services are delivered.
2. Data we process
| Site delivery | IP address, browser and device information, requested URL, referring page, timestamps, and security or diagnostic events may be processed automatically by the hosting and network providers that deliver the site. |
|---|
| Advertising | Google and participating advertising providers may process cookie or device identifiers, IP address, approximate location, browser information, pages visited, and ad impressions or interactions. The precise data and purposes depend on provider settings, your region, and your privacy choices. |
|---|
| Local MapTactic saves | Saved map markers, drawings, short tactical comments, hidden-marker choices, and tier-list arrangements are stored in your browser's local storage under MapTactic-specific keys. We do not receive this data unless you choose to export and share it yourself. |
|---|
| Discord member count | The home page requests an aggregate member count from an operator-managed Cloudflare Worker. Like any web request, the endpoint and Cloudflare may receive technical request information such as an IP address, user agent, referrer, and timestamp. |
|---|
Purposes and legal grounds
Processing may occur to provide site features, remember information you deliberately save, maintain security and reliability, display and measure advertising, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations. Where applicable law requires consent for non-essential cookies, local storage, or personalized advertising, consent is requested through a consent management platform. In other situations, processing may rely on legitimate interests or another lawful basis available to the relevant provider.
3. Google AdSense, advertising, and cookies
This site uses Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's previous visits to this site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
Advertising cookies and similar technologies may be used to deliver and render ads, limit how often an ad is shown, detect invalid activity, measure ad performance, and personalize ads when permitted. Other advertising vendors or networks enabled in the AdSense account may also use cookies; applicable providers and purposes are shown in the consent interface where required.
4. Consent in the EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, personalized advertising is subject to Google's consent requirements. Where the European regulations message applies, choices are presented through a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) that integrates with the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework.
The consent message can offer Do not consent, Consent, and Manage options. You may revisit an available choice at any time:
Google's Privacy & messaging controls determine when this regional consent message is available. If the message does not apply to your visit, the button may not open a dialog.
5. Service providers and disclosures
- GitHub Pages / GitHub: hosts and delivers the site and may process technical and security logs. See the GitHub Privacy Statement.
- Google: supplies AdSense advertising, consent, measurement, fraud-prevention, and related technology. See the Google Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare: operates the Worker used to return the site's public Discord member count. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- Discord: receives information directly from you only when you choose to follow the site's Discord invitation link. See the Discord Privacy Policy.
We may also disclose information when legally required, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a transfer of the site's operation. We do not sell browser-saved marker or tier-list data.
6. Your privacy choices
- Advertising: use the consent settings above where available, Google My Ad Center, or your browser controls to block or delete cookies. Blocking cookies may change which ads you see but should not prevent access to core map content.
- Local MapTactic saves: remove MapTactic data through your browser's site-data/local-storage settings. The tier maker and marker editor also provide their own reset controls. Local storage remains until you clear it, reset it in the site, or your browser removes it.
- External links: you can choose not to open the Discord invitation or other third-party links.
Browser “Do Not Track” signals are not interpreted directly by this static site. Consent and opt-out signals supported by the relevant advertising platform are handled by that platform.
7. Retention, security, and international transfers
MapTactic local-storage data has no set expiry and remains on your device until removed as described above. The site operator does not maintain a separate visitor-profile database. Hosting, advertising, and network providers retain technical, consent, and advertising data according to their own policies and legal obligations.
We use reasonable measures appropriate to a static public website, but no Internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. Providers may process information in countries other than your own and use the transfer safeguards described in their privacy notices.
8. Your rights, children, changes, and contact
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection, to withdraw consent, or to complain to a data-protection authority. Because most data described here is held by your browser or a named provider rather than in a WarDevOps visitor database, you may need to exercise some requests directly with that provider.
The site is not designed to collect personal information from children and does not offer accounts or direct messaging. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information may contact us.
We may update this policy when the site, providers, or legal requirements change. The revised date at the top identifies the latest version.
For privacy questions or requests, contact the site operator through the WarDevOps website repository. Please do not post sensitive personal information in a public issue.
